Industrial heat pumps are heat pump used in the industrial sector, they are often much larger than residential heat pump and can also be high temperature heat pump. Chillers, which are heat pumps used for their cooling properties, are used in industries since many years and are they are the most common source of cooling. However, high temperature heat pump in Switzerland as in other countries are not widely spread but are subject of many EU and Swiss projects such as (push2heat , spirit , IEA-annex58 , HTHP-CH , IntSGHP ). Steam generating heat pump is also a subject of high interest by many industrial sector as steam is used in many processes such as distillation, pasteurisation, and cleaning in place.

There are already industrial heat pumps installed in Switzerland. Some of them have been studied and listed in a SFOE project (2018-2020) for the IEA-annex 48 (final report).
