Hydropower creates insulating power by Pieder Cadruvi (Flumroc)

Flumroc AG has been melting stone for over seventy years, producing stone wool products for thermal insulation, acoustic insulation, fire protection and technical applications. The process of melting stone at around 1’500°C is energy-intensive. In recent months, Flumroc AG's production facilities have been completely modernised. The old cupola furnaces have been dismantled and replaced by an electric melting furnace that runs on electricity from Swiss hydropower. Flumroc is thus entering a new, decarbonised era. Flumroc is thus reducing its CO2 emissions and significantly improving its ecological footprint.

Rethinking and shaping the future - actions instead of words - Flumroc shows that an industrial company can obtain a large proportion of its energy from renewable sources.

Pieder Cadruvi has been Head of Operations and a member of the Executive Board for 20 years.
