Renewable Metal Fuels (ReMeF) are a game-changing, long-term energy storage technology to accelerate decarbonization efforts. One of the main challenges preventing the transition to a renewable-energy landscape and achieve the Energy Strategy 2050 is the energy storage.
The seasonal or long-term energy storage will become a central issue for our future energy systems. If we can store excess electricity in peak production seasons until the season of peak demand, we will be able to significantly increase our energy independence and increase the share of renewable energy in our consumption mix.
